Management Team

Alain Tornier has formed a team of medical device business leaders, with considerable expertise in the spine industry.

Collectively, the management team has a combined experience of over 60 years in the orthopedic and spine industry. Their experience covers R&D, regulatory, marketing, sales and international distribution operations.

ALain Tornier


— Alain Tornier was President and CEO of the Tornier Group from 1976 to 2006, when he sold his company to an American investment fund. He has over 40 years of experience in the orthopedic industry working on the design, development, marketing and sales of orthopedic implants. Alain Tornier established Tornier Company as a world leader in the extremity market and met the challenge of successfully implanting his group in the United States.


Guy Viart

CEO of Clariance SAS

— Guy Viart has a long history of expertise in the field of spine surgery. Prior to joining Clariance, he was the CEO of EUROSURGICAL, a French-based company, specialized in the development of spinal implants. He began his career as the Chief Technology Officer at SOFAMOR, where he was also a board member. Guy Viart graduated from the engineering school “Les Mines de Douai” and from the Business School of the University of Lille. He also received training in spine biomechanics at the LBM ENSAM, ParisTech (Paris).



Clinical and Regulatory Affairs Manager

— Yves De Backer has more than 25 years of research, development and regulatory affairs experience in biomaterials and implanted medical devices. He has managed numerous regulatory and clinical investigation submissions from protocol development, investigator selection and management to quality audits. He is also the MedTech advisor for SEVENTURE, a European VC expert in Biomedical and Biotech investment. He received a PhD. in pharmaceutical sciences and a MSc. in biochemistry from Lille Sciences University.



Chief Technology Officer

— Pascal Rokegem has over 20 years of experience in the development of spinal surgical techniques and implants. Pascal Rokegem was formally Chief Engineering Officer at SOFAMOR and Chief Technology Officer at EUROSURGICAL. He has a MSc. in engineering from “Les Mines de Douai” school and he is a specialist in mechanics, materials, computing sciences, processing and tests.
